Representation in North Carolina Bicycle Injury & Accident Cases
About five years ago, Ann Groninger joined forces with Peter Wilborn to create the ncbikelaw counterpart to scbikelaw. It worked so well that they joined them together as bikelaw. bikelaw now handle cases all over North Carolina, from the Outer Banks to Raleigh to Stokes County, Charlotte, Asheville and all the way to the Tennessee border.
Ann's motivations for focusing her practice on bicycle cases are selfish ones. She rides her bike for transportation and recreation and wants to be able to do it safely. Ann also believes that improving North Carolina bicycle safety will encourage more people to ride, which makes communities better places to live. By enforcing the rights of cyclists who get hit, we're helping to prevent the next crash.
North Carolina has its unique challenges. The biggest is contributory negligence, an old and unfair law that prevents an accident victim from being compensated for his/her injuries, if he/she has even a tiny percentage at fault in the accident. The law applies to everyone, but we know all too well from personal experience that cyclists are hardest hit. We continue to work toward changing this law; in the meantime, we have to work with it and around it. It's our job to educate insurance adjusters, judges and juries about the rights and duties of cyclists in North Carolina. It's our mission to ensure that the legal system treats our clients and cyclists fairly.
Ann has ridden a bicycle everywhere she has lived - North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Louisiana; and around the world - Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Chile, Nepal. Ann has also spent the last 15+ years in North Carolina courtrooms, fighting for individuals. bikelaw is just a combination of those passions.
Bottom line, if you are injured or involved in a bicycle accident in North Carolina, you want an experienced lawyer who understands cycling and legal issues unique to North Carolina cycling laws. Please do not hesitate to contact Ann at 704-200-2009 or ann@bikelaw.com. You do not pay any fees unless money is collected on your behalf.
Ann is also available to speak to bicycle clubs, advocacy groups, and law enforcement personnel on bicycle safety, bicycle laws, and to give technical assistance.
Also make sure to register for free bicycle gear, sign up for bikelaw emails, and follow the latest news on the bikelaw blog.
