A Guide for Drivers and Bicyclists to Properly Share the Road
In every car versus bike collision, it is the same loser every time: the bicyclist. In a well-meaning effort to reduce such collisions, a number of states have adopted a “Share the Road” campaign. Since 1997, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (the ‘MUTCD”) has approved the use of the Share the Road sign

USA Cycling Takes a Stand for Cyclists in Montana
In Montana, House Bill 267 defining a safe passing distance between cars and bicycles was recently voted down in a 24-26 vote. The controversy began when Montana Senate President, Scott Sales, lashed out at cyclists calling them “rude” and “self-centered.” We believe these remarks from a Senator are uncalled for and unprofessional. Cyclists, like motorists, aren’t always perfect and

Support of the Colorado Safety Stop Bill
Bike Law fully supports the Colorado Safety Stop Bill, Senate Bill 93, that was introduced by Senator Andy Kerr to rethink the “Operation Of Bicycles Approaching Intersections.” Ridership in the United States is up across the board. Michigan Must Pass Laws to Protect Cyclists
After two years of a dramatic increase of bicyclists killed by car crashes in Michigan, there is a clear connection between these deaths and the lack of laws to protect cyclists. Kalamazoo, a hopeful lament.
In light of the Kalamazoo, Michigan tragedy, it’s so easy to focus on what’s wrong with the world. Several similar incidents this year have hit too close to home. Some friends in North Carolina were also run down in group. As were clients in in North Augusta, SC. As our community grows, we experience more

Louisiana VRU Law Defeated Today
The notorious Rep. Kenny Havard killed the bill. He legislates in favor of thin, young strippers, and against bikes. *** 2d UPDATE, June 5, 2016, noon *** A cyclist emailed Havard to ask him to change his anti-bike position; Havard responded. His parents not only taught Havard “not to play in the road,” they apparently

Off-Duty Cop Bullies Cyclist (and Gets Schooled)
We deserve better routes to ride, and we deserve better trained police officers. Here’s a video of an off-duty Charleston police officer confronting a cyclist (who had been cycling against traffic on a one-way street), preventing him from leaving, and getting physical and ultimately schooled. The officer is currently on administrative leave pending investigation. There’s
